Boardroom Recalibration

Boardroom Recalibration The first step isn't fixing the team. It's seeing what's actually running the room.

One sitting, or a short series across a few meetings. No document. No workshop deck.

What This Is

A private session, or a short series, where I sit in the room, watch what's actually happening, and tell you what I see.

Not a workshop. Not a strategy day. Not a facilitated exercise with a worksheet at the end.

You bring the room as it actually is. The dynamic that's off. The decision that never quite lands. The thing everyone's carefully avoiding saying out loud.

I watch how the room actually moves, who defers to whom, where a decision quietly gets made before anyone's said it out loud, what's being managed instead of addressed.

Then I say it.

That's the whole intervention. No framework handed over afterward. No report. Just what's now visible that wasn't before.

What I'm Actually Watching For

While the meeting happens as normal, I'm paying attention to something underneath it.

Not just what's being said, but what's shaping how it's being said. Who speaks first and who waits. Where agreement arrives too easily. Where a question gets asked and then quietly dropped.

Most boards believe the challenge in front of them is the actual challenge, the strategy, the appointment, the restructure. Often that's only the visible expression of something else, an adaptation one or two people in the room built long ago, now shaping how the whole group operates.

Once that's named, the room doesn't go back to seeing it the old way.

What Changes

Boards often describe leaving with a clearer read of the room. But clarity isn't really the outcome. Seeing the actual dynamic is. Clarity follows.

Decisions that used to take three meetings start landing in one. The person everyone quietly defers to becomes visible, along with what that's costing everyone else's input. The disagreement nobody was having finally gets had.

Nobody gets instructed to behave differently. The thing that was quietly shaping the room just stops needing to.

What This Is Not

This isn't a facilitated workshop.

It isn't a strategy session.

It isn't a culture survey with a report at the end.

And it’s not a witchhunt.

It's a focused piece of work designed to make visible what's actually running the room.

This Is For Boards and Leadership
Teams Who...

Sense something's off in how the group operates, but can't name it.

Keep circling the same decision without landing it.

Have one or two voices the rest of the room quietly defers to, whether or not anyone's said so out loud.

Are willing to hear something direct about the room itself, not just the agenda in front of it.

Where this leads

Some boards book this for one specific meeting, a decision that's stuck, a dynamic that needs naming before it goes further. That's often enough.

Others find that what surfaces points to something deeper, an adaptation shaping the organisation well beyond that one room. For those boards, this becomes the beginning of an Enterprise Partnership.

Either way, there's no obligation beyond the session itself.

The Details

Private. In the room, or via video call.

One sitting, or a short series across a few meetings, whichever the situation actually needs.

This isn't about running a better meeting. It's about seeing what's actually been driving the room, sometimes for years.
